The Middle East is the common name refering to the region centered on Western Asia, including the Arabian Peninsular and commonly includes Egypt in North Africa. Arabs, Azeris, Kurds, Persians, and Turks constitute the largest ethnic groups in the region by population. The Middle East is believed to be the location of human's first permanent settlements along the banks of the Tigris and Euphrates River in the Fertile Crescent. Several major religions have their origins in the Middle East, including Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.

The Middle East generally has a hot, arid climate, ideally suited to long days of exploration by the intrepid traveller, however the Middle East also suffers from a history, and currently, of unrest making travel in these regions difficult. The vast reserves  of crude oil of the region has created uber modern centers such as in the U.A.E. which juxtaposes many traditional settlements that are still widespread. Despite it being a strategically, politically, culturally and religiously sensitive region it also offers unique and intrepid experiences for the courageous traveller.
